During European trading, the British Pound increased against the US Dollar, trading above 1.2200 levels.
The currency pair has been recovering ground since this morning's losses following worse than expected retail sales data from the UK and traders are leaning towards the possibility of three interest rate cuts from the Bank of England this year. In the UK Retail Sales for December have been posted with worse than expected results (3.6% realised vs 4.2% expected). In the US, Housing Starts data for December (-1.8% last month) and Industrial Production data for December (0.3% expected) will be released at 13:30 GMT and 14:15 GMT respectively.
