German and European stock markets weakened Friday, ending the week on a cautious note after the U.K. recorded the biggest economic slump on record impacting on sentiment in mainland Europe as well causing fears that the German economy may also take longer than expected to recover. Yesterday’s announcement that lockdowns in Germany would be slightly extended despite falling new case numbers also put pressure on the GER30.
