Gold was set on Friday for its best weekly performance in more than two months on renewed signs the U.S. Federal Reserve could hold-off on tapering economic support in the near term, and as the dollar was headed for its worst week since May. Gold jumped as much as 1.4% on Thursday following Fed chief Jerome Powell’s remarks that the U.S. job market still had “some ground to cover” and that it was “ways away” from considering interest rate hikes. Underpinning his views, data showed the U.S. economy expanded solidly in the second quarter, but the growth fell short of expectations.
