U.S. stock futures traded mostly lower on Tuesday, extending weakness from the previous session amid concerns that Federal Reserve rate cuts could be postponed until the second half of the year.
The Dow futures contract was down by 105 points, or 0.3%, while S&P 500 futures decreased by 2 points, or 0.1%. Meanwhile, Nasdaq 100 futures edged up by 5 points, or 0.1%.
On Monday, the major indices closed mostly lower, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling by 240 points, or 0.6%, and the S&P 500 index declining by 0.2%. In contrast, the Nasdaq Composite, which is heavily weighted towards technology stocks, managed to climb by 0.1%.
The market's weakness followed data indicating strength in the U.S. manufacturing sector, which raised doubts about the possibility of a Federal Reserve rate cut in June.
