GER 40 Index Weekly Special Report based on 1.00 Lot Calculation:
GER 40 INDEX:
- The GER40 index represents the DAX 40 index in Germany, which includes companies such as Adidas, Bayer, Mercedes-Benz, Deutsche Bank, Siemens, BMW, E.ON. etc. In essence, the index includes the most valuable and advanced companies in Germany, the largest economy in Europe.
US TARIFFS AND TARIFF POLICY: TRADE WAR
- RECIPROCAL TARRIFFS SUSPENDED BY 90 DAYS: US president Donald Trump suspended their reciprocal tariffs on the rest of the world by 90 days.
- TRADE NEGOTIATIONS TO BEGIN IMMEDIATELY: More than 70 countries called trump's administration to start trade and tariff negotiations immediately. President Trump directed tariff talks to begin immediately with South Korea, Japan and India.
- NEGOTIATIONS WITH EU: Trade commissioner Sefrovic visited the US for talks on trade saying that they are ready for fair deals through 0-for-0 tariff offer on industrial goods.
AUTO TARIFFS:
- (BREAKING, APRIL 14): US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP SUGGESTED AUTO TARIFF EXEMPTION. On April 14, 2025, President Donald Trump announced a possible temporary exemption from the newly imposed 25% tariffs on vehicle imports. This consideration aims to provide automakers time to adjust their supply chains amid concerns of market volatility and potential recession.
These developments suggest a more flexible approach to trade policies, which could alleviate some of the uncertainties facing the automotive sector and positively influence the GER40 index.
EUROPEAN CENTAL BANK:
- THURSDAY, APRIL 17 AT 13:15 GMT+1: EUROPEAN CENTRAL BANK (ECB) INTEREST RATE CUT DECISION. The decision will be followed by a press conference (13:45 GMT+1). The ECB cut its benchmark interest rate in March from 2.90% to the current 2.65%, and investors expect the ECB could continue with their rate-cutting cycle on. If the ECB does decide on an interest rate cut, this could push the GER40 higher, as borrowing costs for businesses could become lower and therefore allow for the economy to grow and expand.
STATISTICS: THE GER40 INDEX HIT AN ALL-TIME HIGH OF 23,736 (MARCH 18, 2025): THE INDEX HAS RISEN AROUND 27% SINCE THE ECB STARTED CUTTING INTEREST RATES IN JUNE 2024. HOWEVER, THE PRICE COULD DECLINE.
