AMD: THE COMPANY
- Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD) is a leading semiconductor company with a market cap of $253.2 billion. It develops CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, and adaptive SoCs for cloud, edge, and end devices. AMD announced the MI400 GPUs for 2026 and plans to release the MI325X in 2024, followed by the 3-nanometer MI350 in 2025, both featuring HBM3E memory. The current MI300 series, including the MI300X, MI300A, and Instinct MI300, competes with Nvidia’s in-demand H100.
AMD: SALES GROWTH AFTER EMBRACING A.I.
- REVENUE EXPECTATIONS: CEO Lisa Su said the company aims to make over $4.5 billion in sales from its MI300 products this year, up from a previous target of $4 billion. MI300 sales were over $1 billion in the second quarter, and AMD plans to release new AI processors annually. The data-center unit brought in $2.8 billion in Q2, more than double compared to last year.
- AI SUPERCYCLE HAS JUST STARTED: CEO Dr. Lisa Su says her company is just getting started with the high-powered AI chip drops. Later this year, AMD will show off its MI325 AI chip followed by the MI350 next year and the MI400 in 2026.
AMD: EVENTS
- Q3 EARNING RESULTS (October 29, 2024- AFTERMARKET): AMD is expected to show significant growth. The projected revenue of $6.717 billion represents a 15.8% increase year-over-year and a 15.13% rise from Q2 2024. Net income expectations are particularly notable, with forecasts of $1.512 billion—an impressive 370% increase from $321.5 million in Q3 2023 and a 409% rise from $296.7 million in Q2 2024.

- AMD and Intel are teaming up to form a new advisory group. This group will include other major tech companies like Microsoft, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Google, and the creator of Linux (an operating system). The goal of this group is to collaborate on improving x86 processors, which power most computers today. x86 processors are used everywhere—in Windows PCs, older Mac models, and many types of servers.
AMD: PRICE ACTION
- THE STOCK HAS TRADED AROUND 30.5% BELOW ITS ALL- TIME HIGH OF $227.20 (March 8, 2024). AMD was last trading around $158, and if a full recovery follows recent all- time highs, the stock could see an upside of around 43.95%. However, the price could decline further.
- ANALYSTS OPINIONS: Rosenblatt Securities forecasts $250, Citi forecasts $210, Wedbush forecasts $200, HSBC $200. Piper Sandler increased their target from $175 to $200.
